MEMBERS SECTION

Just a couple of REMINDERS:

DO NOT LEAVE THE PARKING AREA UNTIL THE STARTER CALLS YOU OUT. THIS APPLIES TO BOTH THE AM AND PM Shotguns.

Just a reminder. Those who have a medical flag remember it is 15 feet from the fringe of the green – NOT THE WIDTH OF THE GOLF CART – visualize the LENGTH of two golf carts. Thank you.

PARKING LOT: AM Shotgun Members: Please do not Park in the middle of the parking space; park on one side of the parking space, so the PM Shotgun Members have a place to park if you have not finished your round. PM Shotgun, please park in the parking lot. STAY OUT OF THE CROSS OVER PARKING. Thank you.

For those of you who have mentioned they are not receiving Tee Time Confirmation emails, please read below.

TIME ANALYSIS

The APRIL 17 Analysis is POSTED. The AM Shotgun had 28 groups (101 players) and the PM Shotgun had 36 groups (128 players). The number of players is decreasing as members go to their summer homes. The times were about average for the AM and PM Groups.

Just a reminder. Those who have a medical flag remember it is 15 feet from the fringe of the green – NOT THE WIDTH OF THE GOLF CART – visualize the LENGTH of two golf carts. Thank you.

Here is the Tip of the Week to help improve times:

Don’t spectate, PLAY
The passenger seat of a cart is not a place to camp out and watch your partner. While they’re
playing, grab a club or two, stroll to your ball and find your yardage. This is not rushing. It’s
called getting ready. It should not take more than 40 seconds to play a shot.

Click on the articles below about ways to improve Slow Play and Data that demonstrates it can increase your scores.

Ways to pick up your pace of play without feeling rushed?

Does Slow Play Cause Higher Scores?

Again, remember, just take off 1 minute per hole per group (for a foursome that is 15 seconds per player per hole) and that is 18 minutes, that is not hard to do!

Here are some ways to help with taking 1 minute off per hole:

1. Play ready Golf. This is not Match Play, so Honors does not apply on League Day.

2. If there is a player in your group who has more trouble walking let him putt out first, so he can start walking to the cart. All four players do not need to stay on the green and watch everyone putt out.

3. Continuous putting saves time as long as you are not standing on someone’s line.

4. Do not put your clubs away when you get to the cart, replace when you get to the next tee or your next shot.

5. How many practice swings do you really need to take? Do not stand over the ball and go thru every swing thought – do that on the driving range not on the course. Remember you are not a Tour Player!!

6. If your cart partner’s ball is on one side and yours is on the other side, drop your partner off and drive to your ball. Cart partners are not joined at the hip.

7. Remember you can putt out of turn, if someone in your group who has to analyze the break, use Aim Point or just takes too long to putt, again this is not Match Play.

Let’s return to a better Pace of Play. I used to receive compliments on how good the Pace of Play was for the DV League. Haven’t been hearing any recently.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Missing Finishing Time on Scorecard – players are disqualified for the days’ competition: Sweeps, Blind Bogey and Closest to the Pin.

Time Violation (over 4:15)

  • First Time Violation: Warning on the Scorecard.

  • Second Time Violation: Sit out the following Week.

Again, remember, just take off 1 minute per hole per group (for a foursome that is 15 seconds per player per hole) and that is 18 minutes, that is not hard to do!

Take one less practice swing per shot; hit the ball – don’t think about all the swing thoughts going thru your mind – save that for the driving range.

Please remember, the Board has recommended 18 holes should be played in less than 4 hours and 15 minutes.  Per the USGA Pace Rating, playing from the White tees should take 3 hours 45 minutes. There is a laminated card in the bag with the time it should take to play each hole. Also, below is the report from the USGA.
