Anchoring the Club

On November 29, 2012 the USGA in conjunction with the R&A announced the upcoming ban on the use of long putters/anchored to the body.  This rule will not take effect until January 1, 2016, thus giving players that are currently using these clubs time to find another way to putt.  This is not an equipment rule change in that players can continue to use the long putters as long it is not anchored to the body.  The final rule is expected to be published in the spring of 2013.

The following are some links to things that will help you understand what is going to permitted and what will be disallowed.

Realize that nothing is set in stone as of yet and nothing will be effective until 2016.
